Tractor Driving - LANTRA

LANTRA training course with theory, practical, and assessment covers risk assessment, daily checks and manoeuvring a tractor safely. <br>

Agenda

This two-day course persists of both theory and practical aspects: 

ΓÇó Perform a risk assessment. 
ΓÇó Mount and dismount safely. 
ΓÇó Understand the purpose and meaning of the instrumentation. 
ΓÇó Understand the function of all controls. 
ΓÇó Understand the hazards associated with using controls. 
ΓÇó Understand the reasons for daily checks. 
ΓÇó Start and stop the engine in a safe manner.
ΓÇó Be competent in driving a tractor in a forward and reverse direction. 
ΓÇó Leave the tractor in a safe state. 
ΓÇó Competently perform checking of the lubrication, cooling, and air intake of the engine, perform basic lubrication of the tractor and ensure the tractor is in a safe road going state 
ΓÇó Attach a mounted implement and manoeuvre in a forward and reverse direction. 
ΓÇó Attach a trailed implement and manoeuvre in a forward and reverse direction. 
ΓÇó Leave unattached implements in a safe state. 
ΓÇó Correctly attach a PTO shaft between tractor and implement. 
ΓÇó Attach the PTO shaft guards correctly. 
ΓÇó Assess the minimum turning circle of the machine and the angle of the PTO shaft. 
ΓÇó Carry out basic operations using tractor mounted loader.

Course Aims

This comprehensive course will provide delegates with the knowledge and practical skills required to competently drive and operate a tractor. For many businesses, the tractor is an essential piece of machinery and operating it safely and efficiently is crucial.

Certification

Upon completion of this course, delegates will receive a LANTRA accredited certificate that does not expire. However, it is advised and is business best practice that delegates attend a refresher course every 5 years.

Who Should Attend

This course is suitable for anybody with the need to operate an agricultural tractor. It is aimed at all delegates; whether you are a complete novice or require some refresher training. 

Due to the nature of the training, a minimum level of fitness will be required to complete this course. Whilst we would not want to disadvantage you as a learner it is an essential requirement.
