Pesticide Hand-held Application (PA6a) - LANTRA

LANTRA training course with theory, practical, and assessment covers health and safety legislation, safety guidelines and appropriate techniques for working with pesticides.<br>

Agenda

By the end of this course, youΓÇÖll be able to: 

ΓÇó Understand your duties under the law and become a safe and competent pesticide user. 
ΓÇó Understand what pesticides are and their ΓÇÿfield of useΓÇÖ. 
ΓÇó State legislation relevant to pesticide application. 
ΓÇó Interpret and use label information. 
ΓÇó Take the appropriate action to protect yourself and the environment. 
ΓÇó Store and transport pesticides safely. 
ΓÇó Dispose of the pesticides and containers safely 
ΓÇó Identify and describe how hand-held applicators work. 
ΓÇó Identify and select nozzles for various applications. 
ΓÇó Achieve the required spray quality. 
ΓÇó Carry out pre-start checks. 
ΓÇó Calibrate the applicator. 
ΓÇó Mix and fill applicator accurately and safely. 
ΓÇó Operate the applicator safely and efficiently in various situations. 
ΓÇó Prevent environmental hazards. 
ΓÇó Decontaminate and store equipment.

Course Aims

This course aims to provide the knowledge and skills to effectively handle, apply, and store pesticides using hand-held applicators. Pesticides are widely used in agriculture and horticulture, but they can be potentially harmful substances, so a thorough appreciation of safe working practices is vital. 

This is a hands-on course that includes both theory and practical elements which supply sufficient training to comply with pesticide regulations.

Certification

Upon completion of this course, delegates will receive a LANTRA accredited certificate that does not expire. However, it is advised and is business best practice that delegates attend a refresher course every 5 years.

Who Should Attend

Anyone with an interest or employment in agriculture, forestry, or horticulture who currently uses or wishes to use hand-held applicators. Due to the nature of the training a minimum level of fitness will be required for specific operations. Whilst we would not want to disadvantage you as a learner, it is an essential requirement.
