NPORS - Road Roller (N214)

NPORS Road Roller course provides practical and theory sessions in the use of Road Rollers. The course aims to enable delegates to successfully complete the NPORS practical and theory assessments.

Agenda

Upon successful completion of this course delegates will:

ΓÇó Have a basic understanding of the industry, the dangers of working in the industry and their responsibilities as an operator
ΓÇó Have a working knowledge of the manufacturerΓÇÖs handbook for the particular machine to be used
ΓÇó Be able to locate and identify the major components of the machine and explain their functions
ΓÇó Be able to locate and identify key controls and explain their functions
ΓÇó Be able to conduct all pre-operational checks in accordance with manufacturerΓÇÖs and legislative requirements
ΓÇó Identify and maintain PPE appropriate for roller use
ΓÇó Prepare the roller for use and operate machinery safely and efficiently
ΓÇó Conduct all necessary safety checks at the work area
ΓÇó Operate machinery safely and efficiently
ΓÇó Be knowledgeable in environmental considerations
ΓÇó Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of loading and unloading procedures for machine transportation
ΓÇó Carry out all end of shift and shut down procedures

Duration

Novice delegate ΓÇô 3 days
Experienced Worker Test ΓÇô 1 day of testing

Course Aims

This course is designed to provide foundation training in the safe operation of a Road Roller.

It is suitable for operators of all abilities and those who have previously received no formal training or instruction.

The course is delivered through a combination of classroom-based theory and practical hands on training.

Certification

Traditional NPORS Card ΓÇô Refresher training is advised every 3 years.

Upon successful completion of this course, delegates applying for NPORS/CSCS Card will be awarded a NPORS Red Trained Operators Card valid for 2 years. During this time delegates will be required to register for a relevant NVQ. Upon successfully completing of the NVQ, delegates will be awarded a Competent Operators Card valid for 5 years. A CPD record / operator logbook will also be issued which will need to be kept up to date.

Who Should Attend

This course is suitable for any delegate wishing to gain an NPORS Road Roller certificate.

Experienced workers, categorised as those with having either 18 months provable work experience and/or 6 months consistent daily experience in the category, will be able to undertake a Experienced Workers Test (EWT). Completion of a EWT will allow experienced workers to take the NPORS Theory and Practical tests required for a NPORS certificate.

Prerequisites

Traditional NPORS card
ΓÇó Novice ΓÇô No pre-requisites
ΓÇó Experienced Workers - either 18 months provable work experience and/or 6 months consistent daily experience in the category.

NPORS / CSCS Card
In addition to the above, delegates must have an in date relevant CITB Health, Safety and Environment Touchscreen Test. Failure to attend with this qualification may result in you being denied entry to the course and forfeiture of all fees.
A good understanding of spoken and written English is also required.
