NPORS - Industrial Telescopic Handler (N011)

This course provides delegates with thorough practical and theory training with the aim to enable successful completion of NPORS Industrial Telescopic Handler assessments.

Agenda

Upon successful completion of this course delegates will be able to:


  • Operate plant machinery on all normal tasks for which it is designed
  • Decide whether a particular load is safe to lift
  • Carry out routine telehandler servicing and plant maintenance in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions
  • Conduct minor mechanical adjustments
  • Prepare and drive the machine on public highways, in accordance with the requirements of the UK Road Traffic Act
  • Understand the purpose and capabilities of the machine and any relevant safety precautions necessary for its operation
  • Understand how the handler machine works and the maintenance requirements involved
  • Understand the effect of load, size, weight, gradients and ground conditions upon machine stability
  • Load, store and transmit representative materials
  • Understand the basic construction of pallets
  • Have a knowledge of the permitted loading of scaffolds

Duration

Novice delegate ΓÇô 5 days
Experienced Worker Test ΓÇô 1 day of testing

Course Aims

This course aims to provide delegates with the skills required to operate an Industrial Telescopic Handler safely.

It is suitable for operators of all abilities and those who have previously received no formal training or instruction.

The course is delivered through a combination of classroom-based theory and practical hands on training.

Certification

Traditional NPORS Card ΓÇô Refresher training is advised every 3 years.

Upon successful completion of this course, delegates applying for NPORS/CSCS Card will be awarded a NPORS Red Trained Operators Card valid for 2 years. During this time delegates will be required to register for a relevant NVQ. Upon successfully completing of the NVQ, delegates will be awarded a Competent Operators Card valid for 5 years. A CPD record / operator logbook will also be issued which will need to be kept up to date.

Who Should Attend

This course is suitable for any delegate wishing to gain an NPORS Industrial Telescopic Handler certificate.

Experienced workers, categorised as those with having either 18 months provable work experience and/or 6 months consistent daily experience in the category, will be able to undertake a Experienced Workers Test (EWT). Completion of a EWT will allow experienced workers to take the NPORS Theory and Practical tests required for a NPORS certificate.

Prerequisites

Traditional NPORS card

ΓÇó Novice ΓÇô No pre-requisites
ΓÇó Experienced Workers - either 18 months provable work experience and/or 6 months consistent daily experience in the category.

NPORS / CSCS Card
In addition to the above, delegates must have an in date relevant CITB Health, Safety and Environment Touchscreen Test. Failure to attend with this qualification may result in you being denied entry to the course and forfeiture of all fees.

A good understanding of spoken and written English is also required.
