Medical Gases Competent Persons

Training in the maintenance, testing and installation of gas systems in healthcare.

Agenda

  • Introduction to gas safety and HTM02-01
  • Plant and system theory
  • Reading pipework drawings
  • Basic fault-finding, including responding to routine plant-monitoring/ alarm system indications
  • The permit-to-work system
  • Installation principles and practices
  • Testing (including practical work)
  • Emergency procedures
  • Maintenance of terminal units and AVSUs

Course Aims

The aim of this course is to provide the knowledge and understanding for those maintaining, testing and installing medical gas systems in healthcare premises and to the standards of HTM02-01. 

Certification

Delegates successfully completing the course will receive a BTEC Level 4 certificate.

Who Should Attend

This course is aimed at delegates whom are in the role of, or is about to start as, Competent Persons in a NHS Trust and who will be required to perform basic maintenance and fault finding tasks. This course is also suitable for delegates who are currently working as Competent Persons in contracting organisations and for whom the extended course will be tailored to either installation or maintenance functions.
