MATS Initial Basic Tower Climbing & Rescue Training Course

This initial MATS course covers safe working within telecommunications and broadcasting industries when working at height on towers and masts.

Agenda

  • During the MATS Initial Basic Tower Climber & Rescue training course you will be instructed in the safe use of personal fall protection equipment used whilst climbing, the operation of permanently installed fixed safety systems and additional fall prevention equipment.
  • Legislation & safety standards.
  • Assessing risk.
  • Managing common hazards.
  • Using harnesses.
  • Using fall arrest lanyards.
  • Selecting appropriate anchor points.
  • Using fixed fall arrest systems
  • Using work position lanyards.
  • Using additional fall prevention equipment.
  • Developing rescue plans.
  • Inspecting rescue equipment.
  • Managing suspension Intolerance (syncope).
  • Selecting rescue techniques.
  • Using knots and ΓÇ£off-weightingΓÇØ techniques.
  • Demonstrating climbing techniques,
  • Emergency evacuation from tower.
  • Descent rescue from permanent guided type system
  • Descent rescue from work position lanyard.
  • Descent rescue of suspended casualty using a fall arrest lanyard.
  • Rescue from permanent guided type system using pulley system "off-weighting casualty".

Course Aims

The aim of this course is to provide delegates with the knowledge, understanding & practical skills to ensure individuals safety whilst working on towers & masts in the telecommunications and broadcast industry.

Certification

Delegates successfully completing the course will receive a digital certificate of attendance valid for 12 Months. Paper certificate and photo ID card can be requested at an additional charge.

Who Should Attend

This course is aimed at delegates who are required to work on telecoms towers and masts. 

Pre-Requisites
  • Delegates must be 18 years and over.
  • All delegates must be able to certify they are physically fit and have no medical conditions that might prevent them working at height prior to commencement of training.
