Course Aims

This refresher course is designed to support delegates in maintaining an overview of thorough examination process for in-service portable lifting equipment, in line with LOLER 1998, PUWER 1998 and other relevant legislation.

It aims to help delegates:
  • Refresh their ability to identify defective or damaged portable lifting equipment
  • Review rejection criteria and management of damaged equipment registers
  • Understand the certification that should accompany lifting equipment
  • Reinforce their responsibilities as a person involved in lifting equipment inspection 
  • Review planned maintenance of portable lifting equipment under legislation
  • Refresh knowledge of producing thorough examination reports and certificates as per Schedule 1, LOLER 1998
  • Revisit both theory and practical assessments, including internal reporting

The course is delivered through classroom theory, practical exercises and group participation, aiming to give delegates a hands-on overview of essential inspection and reporting practices. 

Certification

On successful completion of the refresher course, delegates receive a certificate valid for 3 years.
