Course Aims

This course is designed to support delegates in carrying out the thorough examination of in-service portable lifting equipment, in line with LOLER 1998, PUWER 1998 and other relevant legislation.

It aims to help delegates:
  • Identify defective or damaged portable lifting equipment 
  • Understand rejection criteria of defective equipment and how to manage damaged equipment registers
  • Recognise the certification that should accompany lifting equipment 
  • Understand their role and responsibilities as a person involved in lifting equipment inspection
  • Support planned maintenance of portable lifting equipment according to legislation (LOLER 1998)
  • Produce thorough examination reports and certification as per Schedule 1, LOLER 1998
  • Complete both the theory and practical assessments to demonstrate knowledge and reporting skills 

Certification

On successful completion, delegates are issued with a certificate in Thorough Examination of Lifting Equipment Accessories, valid for 3 years.
