EUSR Category 3 & 4 - Install, Inspect and Remove Timber and Steel Support Systems

This course covers the minimum training and assessment required for those working to install, inspect and remove timber and steel support systems.

Agenda

Achievement of the standard demonstrates effective performance, by being able to demonstrate the following skills and knowledge:

  • Comply with company procedures, health and safety regulations and environmental practices. 
  • Interpret utility drawings and line search document. 
  • Install, inspect and remove timber support systems. 
  • Identify the dangers and hazards associated with excavations. 
  • Use and communicate data effectively and resolve problems.

Course Aims

This course is designed to provide essential training and assessment for delegates involved in the installation, inspection, and removal of timber and steel support systems. It includes practical, hands-on training, enabling delegates to install ground support systems in a realistic setting.

The course content is based on the following National Occupational Standards:

- EUSMUNC07 (Excavate and Maintain Holes and Trenches for Utility Networks Construction)

- EUSGNC007 (Excavate and Maintain Holes and Trenches for Complex Operations in Gas Network Construction)

- COSVR370 (Provide Temporary Excavation Support)

In addition, the course integrates key elements from the City and Guilds Level 2 Award in (6146-21), along with safety guidelines from HSG47 (Avoiding Danger from Underground Services), HSG150 (Health and Safety in Construction), and CIRIA Trenching Practice (Second Edition R97).

Certification

Delegates successfully completing this course will receive a EUSR Accredited Programme Certificate and a virtual EUSR Card.

This course is suitable for delegates, including managers, supervisors, safety professionals, and operatives who are responsible for overseeing or carrying out work in or around excavations. If you are involved in the installation, inspection, or removal of shoring systems and have not received formal training, this course is crucial for minimising risks to yourself and others.
