Course Aims

This course focuses on the dangers and hazards associated with working near underground services and the necessary steps for planning and implementing safe systems of work to reduce these risks. 

It provides the essential training and assessment required for those involved in safely detecting utility services using recognised and approved detection methods. The course also covers interpreting utility drawings and line search documents in line with HSE HSG47 guidance, Avoiding Danger from Underground Services. 

The course content is based on the following National Occupational Standards:
  • EUSMUNC06: Locate and Avoid Services for Utilities Network Construction
  • EUSEPUS044: Location and Identification of Underground Utility Services in Electricity Power Utilities.

Certification

Delegates successfully completing the course will be issued with a EUSR (Energy & Utility Skills Register) Card, which is valid for 3 years. All cards display the card holderΓÇÖs unique EUSR number, the reverse displays all registrations and their expiry dates.

Who Should Attend

Managers and supervisors in construction, utilities, telecommunications, and petrochemical industries who are required to locate underground apparatus during planned excavations and plan and issue permits to excavate.
