Driver CPC - Alcohol and Drug Awareness, and Bridge Strikes and Route Planning - Remote Learning

This course is designed to demonstrate the effects drugs and alcohol have on the human body.<br>

Agenda

This course contains two modules and includes the following topics:


 Alcohol and Drug Awareness:

  • What is a drug?
  • Alcohol awareness
  • Consumption, absorption, distribution, elimination
  • Drug awareness
  • Drug groups and effects
  • The law

Bridge Strikes and Route Planning:

  • The Office of the Traffic Commissioner
  • The regulations and law
  • Why bridge strikes occur
  • Knowing your height
  • Identifying bridge heights
  • The consequences of hitting a bridge
  • The importance of route planning, planning considerations and diversions
  • Bridge strike reporting and investigation
  • Bridge strike prevention and stakeholders.

Course Aims

This course is split into two modules Alcohol and Drug Awareness and Bridge Strikes and Route Planning.

The ΓÇÿAlcohol and Drug AwarenessΓÇÖ module is designed to demonstrate the effect drugs and alcohol have on the human body as well as the consequences they can have on the driverΓÇÖs safety and ability to drive when over the legal limit.

The ΓÇÿBridge Strikes and Route PlanningΓÇÖ module will teach delegates about the driverΓÇÖs roles and responsibilities in the prevention of bridge strikes. The course will cover the consequences of hitting bridges and how it can affect public transport and, subsequently, the economy. This training is designed to help the driver and route planners mitigate these accidents to prevent damages and injuries.

Certification

Upon successful completion of this course, delegates will be presented with a printable certificate of competence that will last 5 years. To obtain your Driver Qualification Card (DQC), you must complete 35 hours worth of driver CPC modules.


Once you have completed all 35 hours of CPC modules, DVLA will issue your card automatically.

Who Should Attend

This course is aimed at those looking to obtain their Driver Qualification Card (DQC). This course will count 7 hours towards your mandatory 35 learning hours that you require for the DQC. This course is suitable for those who hold either a HGV or PCV license.
