Course Aims

To provide delegates with the knowledge required  to install, inspect and test electric vehicle charging equipment within domestic properties.

On successful completion of this course, you will qualify as an authorised installer on the Electric Vehicle Homecharge Scheme [OLEV] - registration required.

Certification

Delegates successfully completing this course will receive a City & Guilds 2019-02 Level 3 Award in Domestic Electric Vehicle Charging Equipment and Installation.

Assessment

The following methods of assessment will be used for this qualification:

  • Online multiple choice exam (40 questions exam, 1 hour / open book)
  • Practical assignment
    • Task A ΓÇô Design 30 mins
    • Task B ΓÇô Install 1 hour
    • Task C ΓÇô Initial Verification 1 hour

The knowledge requirements will be tested through an on-line multiple choice test and the practical requirements will be assessed through the assignment.

Who Should Attend

This course is aimed at those who would like to learn how to install Electric Vehicle Charging Equipment within domestic properties. It is designed specifically for domestic installers with experience of installing electrics and the ability to carry out initial verification on installations.

Pre-Requisites

There are no formal entry requirements for this qualification, however delegates must be able to carry out the following competencies:

  • Be able to install electrics in a domestic setting
  • Be able to carry out an initial verification (inspection and testing) on an electrical installation and complete the necessary paperwork
  • Be up to date with the latest Building Regulations requirements
  • Be up to date with the latest 18th Edition wiring regulations (highly recommended but not compulsory)
  • Be able to correctly install and terminate pvc/pvc cable (twin and earth) and Steel Wire armoured cable (swa)
