Domestic, Commercial and Industrial Electric Vehicle Charging Point Installers (EVSE) - City & Guilds Level 3 (2919-01)

Course designed to provide the required knowledge to install, inspect and test electric vehicle charging equipment.

  • Legislation and regulations - key requirements relating to electric vehicle charging equipment
  • Overview of electric vehicle charging - modes and connections
  • Electrical installation requirements - earthing and supply arrangements
  • Installation of electric vehicle charging equipment - for domestic, commercial and industrial locations
  • Inspection, testing, commissioning and handover of electric vehicle charging equipment including DNO notification
  • Practical assessment - observation of inspection, testing and commissioning of an installation
  • Written theoretical assessment

Course Aims

This course is designed to provide expert guidance to those wishing to gain knowledge and understanding of Electric Vehicle charging including installation, inspection & testing and handing over of electrical vehicle charging equipment.

On successful completion of this course, you will qualify as an authorised installer on the Electric Vehicle Homecharge Scheme [OLEV] - registration required.

Certification

Delegates successfully completing this course will receive a City & Guilds 2919-01 Level 3 Award in Domestic, Commercial and Industry Equipment Installation certificate.

Assessment

Delegates will complete 2 forms of assessment on the last day of the course.

Please note: Mostly delegates will attend this course over 2 consecutive days, however in some circumstances delegates will be required to attend their exams and assessments on day 3.Where possible, the assessments for this course will be the following day, however this is NOT always the case. We will confirm the assessment day on your confirmation details. If you have a specific date you need please contact us on 0345 605 0006 prior to booking.

Delegates will complete:

  • Online Multiple Choice Exam (40 questions, 1 hour, open book)
  • Practical Assessments
    • Task A ΓÇô Design 30 mins
    • Task B ΓÇô Install 1 hour
    • Task C ΓÇô Initial Verification 1 hour
    • Task D ΓÇô Domestic Design 30 mins

You can bring your own tester in for the practical assessment as long as it complies to GS38.

Delegates must bring photographic ID such as a passport or driving license in order to sit the assessments on this course.

All certification is subject to the City & Guilds Quality assurance procedure. if you require a certificate of attendance in the interim please donΓÇÖt hesitate to contact us.

Who Should Attend

This qualification is aimed at practicing electricians interested in understanding how to install the range of equipment and systems available, it covers the specialised installation requirements of electric vehicle charging equipment in public, private and commercial locations and includes exclusive guidance on electrical requirements.

Pre-Requisites

Minimum age 18 years old (mandatory)

Must be able to carry out the following competencies:

  • Be competent to work on domestic and commercial electrical installations (With a minimum Level 3 Qualification such as C&G 2365 or NVQ)
  • Be able to correctly install and terminate pvc/pvc cable (twin and earth) and Steel Wire armoured cable (swa)
  • Be able to carry out an initial verification (inspection and testing) on an electrical installation and complete the necessary paperwork.
  • Be up to date with the latest Building Regulations requirements
  • Be up to date with the latest 18th Edition wiring regulations
